Garmin 305 -- my virtual training partner is my best friend

    by attickah, Jun 04, 2009
    Pros:

The 305 does a LOT of things fairly proficiently, easy-to-read display.

    Cons:

Manufacturer should have made it do half as many things twice as well.

The Bottom Line: My Garmin 305 is a useful if imperfect training tool. Based on the overall quality of this product, I would be willing to purchase from Garmin again.

    Good on bike rides

    by bayareabiker, Feb 23, 2009
    Pros:

Many useful features, including heart rate.

    Cons:

battery life too short for endurance activities. Only one position format, only one datum.

Review: I purchased the Forerunner 305 as a replacement for the eTrex, Forerunne r 101 and 301,... More

    Fulfills the Promise

    by russmillermail, Dec 20, 2008
    Pros:

Improved (perfected) GPS Accurate HR Drama-free software and syncing

    Cons:

Separate syncing/charging dock The band, while improved, doesn't retain the flap very well.

The Bottom Line: Other than shoes, the 305 is the best running accessory that I'm aware of. Garmin corrects the many flaws of the 301.
Review: I purchased the previous iteration (the 301) of Garmin's GPS/Heartrate monitor and was terribly disa... More

    Forerunner 305 great outdoor/sports watch!

    by lukestanley, Oct 28, 2008
    Pros:

All in one, convenient and accurate GPS sports watch! USB battery recharges.

    Cons:

Large size, not heavy, but is clearly a sportswatch. Sometimes takes minutes to find satellites.

The Bottom Line: This is the clear leader in Sports Watch products, combining HRM and GPS (distance and altitude).
Review: I decided to upgrade from my Timex Ironman Bodylink setup, although I only had the Timex HRM thus fa... More

Better than I hoped, but not as good as it could be

    by niceguymike, Jul 20, 2008
    Pros:

Gives me the data I want. Can download and upload data with ease.

    Cons:

Bulky. Difficulty acquiring satellites in buildings and trees. Tiny buttons.

The Bottom Line: Sure, get one. You know you want one. And you won't pay an arm and a leg for it, or have to buy it a la carte like some systems.
Review: I'd read on one of my websites that Amazon was having a major sale on the Garmin Forerunner 305. Sin... More
