For the price, not a bad lens.

    by andgott, Mar 28, 2008
    Pros:

    Light, Very inexpensive

    Cons:

OK build quality, Somewhat soft images

The Bottom Line: At this price point, it's a great lens. Don't expect too much of it, and you won't be disappointed. It's a great telephoto zoom for most users!

Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III - Decent Starter Telephoto... But Not Much More Beyond That

    by soupcraze, Jan 26, 2008
    Pros:

    Light-Weight; Inexpensive; Smooth Zoom

    Cons:

Softness; Rotating Front Element; Cheap Build

The Bottom Line: The Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III is Canon's lowest-end telephoto kit lens. It will make true amateurs happy, but beyond that there are better options.

The hidden gem of the Zuiko Digital line!

    by rfman, Jul 17, 2006
    Pros:

Excellent macro performance, very sharp, lightweight, inexpensive.

    Cons:

Not weatherproofed. Maximal aperture is not extremely fast.

The Bottom Line: Superb sharpness and macro performance for the price. Unless you require a weatherproof lens, this one is a no-brainer.

Get the IS version if you can afford it--not the best of Canon's offerings

    by suemccartin, Apr 07, 2005
    Pros:

    good zoom range, light

    Cons:

slooowwwww (high max aperature), no IS system.

The Bottom Line: There are better choices. If you need high focal length a single lens may be a better choice. Not up to Canon's usual high standards.
